Immortal

Andrew Johns affectionately known as ‘Joey’ is an Immortal of the game. He is considered one of the greatest players of all time.

Andrew won two Premierships with the Newcastle Knights (including one as Captain). Playing a club record of 249 games with the Knights, Andrew scored 2,176 NRL points throughout his career. Andrew was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal for best on ground in the Knights 2001 Grand Final victory.

In representative football, Andrew played in 23 games for NSW Blues in the State of Origin captaining the side to a series win in 2003. He represented Australia in 26 Tests winning both the 1995 and 2000 Rugby League World Cups.

Andrew is one of only four players to have won the Golden Boot Award (best player in the world) more than once and is one of only two players to have won the Dally M Medal for best player in the NRL on three occasions. In 2012, Andrew was named as the eighth ‘Immortal’ of rugby league and inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. He was also named in the Team of the Century in his customary halfback position.

These days, Andrew has made a smooth and highly successful transition into the media. He is an integral member of the Nine Network commentary team and all things footy plus Triple M and Ninemsn. He also engages in skills coaching at a number of NRL clubs.
