3-times Olympic Swimming Gold
Having been taught how to swim out of a lake in Malawi Bronte Campbell OAM fell in love with swimming from an early age.
Bronte relocated back to Australia when she was 7 years old and after watching the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, both Bronte and sister Cate were inspired to join their local swimming club in Brisbane. From that point on, competitive swimming became their passion.
Since 2011, Bronte has consistently featured on the international stage, winning gold in the 50m Freestyle at the FINA World Junior Championships, gold for the 50m Freestyle before earning selection for the 2012 London Olympics as an 18 year-old. Post London Bronte continued her ascent to stardom joining sister Cate in the 4x100m Freestyle relay at the 2013 World Champions taking home a silver medal. Her first senior gold medals came in Glasgow during the 2014 Commonwealth Games as she helped team Australia to victory in the 4x100m Freestyle and Medley relay before later adding a silver and bronze medal to her tally in the 100m and 50m Freestyle.
Building upon this momentum, Bronte took the 2015 World Championships by storm, taking home gold in the 50m, 100m and 4x100m Freestyle relay, establishing herself as one of the best freestyle swimmers in the world.
At the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Bronte took home her first Olympic gold as part of the dominate World Record breaking 4x100m Freestyle relay team. Three years later, Bronte had an unforgettable experience on home soil at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, adding three gold medals in the 100m Freestyle, 4x100m Free style and 4x100m Medley to her already creaking cabinet. She duly capped off her tournament with a 50m Freestyle winning silver, joining the podium with her sister.
Having added two more World Championships Golds to her impressive haul in 2019, Bronte went to her third Olympics in Tokyo 2020 brimming with confidence. She once again played an integral role in the Dolphin’s 4x100m Freestyle relay as they smashed their own world record on route to winning gold before she then featured as part of the first ever 4x100m Mixed Medley relay where she added bronze to her remarkable tally.
In 2024 Bronte went to her fourth Olympic Games in Paris, adding another gold medal to her collection. Bronte has been an instrumental member of the women’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay team across all 4 Olympics.
Out of the pool, Bronte and her sister Cate, wrote a book called “Sister Secrets” which was released in 2021 following the Tokyo Olympics.
