Resilience Speaker | TEDx Speaker | Author
Danyal Diallo’s journey began in Sudan, where at just four years old, he sustained a life‑altering hip injury after being pushed from a building, an injury that still makes every step painful. Yet instead of slowing him down, that pain became a constant reminder of what he wants in life: to build his own path, not work for someone else. When he migrated to Australia, Danyal struggled with a deep sense of displacement, feeling caught between cultures and unsure where he belonged. Over time, he discovered that the idea of “home” is subjective—something you create, not something you find.
At sixteen, driven by resilience and a refusal to be defined by circumstance, Danyal launched Gymshopen, an online fitness store selling equipment and accessories for men and women. When asked what makes the business special, his answer is simple: “The story behind it”. For Danyal, the very things that often hold people back race, youth, disability became the fuel that pushed him forward. His message is clear: success is a choice, and it’s always on the table for those willing to reach for it. This philosophy is powerfully captured in his TEDx talk, Breaking the Stereotypes, where he challenges assumptions and empowers audiences to rewrite their own narratives.
Beyond entrepreneurship, Danyal is a youth leader who has worked with the City of Casey while continuing his studies. As a social entrepreneur, he has partnered with Destiny Rescue Australia, contributing to efforts that free children from sex slavery in Eastern Asia. Guided by his belief that “there is nothing greater than the chance to have a chance at something”, he uses his platform to advocate for opportunity, dignity, and hope.
Today, Danyal is a dynamic TEDx speaker, actor, comedian, and author of ‘Rising From TheRooftop: The Transformative Power of Choice and Resilience’. His presentations blend humour, storytelling, and lived experience to inspire audiences across schools, corporations, government, and not‑for‑profit organisations. His work focuses on cultural awareness, breaking stereotypes, mental health, and personal growth, offering programs that encourage reflection, resilience, and inclusion. Testimonials consistently highlight his rare ability to be both entertaining and deeply thought‑provoking across all ages.
In addition to his creative and speaking work, Danyal serves as a board member of Multicultural Youth Support Services (MYSS), a Melbourne‑based organisation dedicated to empowering young people from diverse backgrounds to take charge of their futures through vision‑building and actionable steps. His leadership at MYSS reflects his commitment to uplifting communities and creating pathways for the next generation.
A true inspiration at a young age, Danyal Diallo is not letting anything stand in the way of what he intends to achieve, and he’s determined to bring others with him.
