Glenn Munsie

Racing & Sports Media Personality | Accomplished MC

Glenn Munsie is one of Australia’s most recognisable and experienced racing and sports media personalities, with a career spanning more than four decades across horse racing, sports broadcasting, wagering and live events.

Glenn’s passion for racing began almost from birth. His father, Norm Munsie, was a respected jockey, and Glenn grew up around racetracks throughout New South Wales. By his own recollection, he has been attending the races since he was a young boy, travelling with his family and developing an intimate understanding of the people, characters and traditions that make Australian racing so unique.

His professional career in the racing industry began in 1980, when, aged 18, Glenn became a bookmaker’s clerk while studying at university. He learned the traditional art of bookmaking and race-day operations, working for prominent bookmakers including Robbie Waterhouse and becoming his front bagman. This gave Glenn an extraordinary education in the betting industry and took him to major race meetings across Australia.

Glenn subsequently developed his own pre-post market business, supplying markets to bookmakers in Australia and Papua New Guinea, while also establishing himself in broadcasting. His media career included radio work with 2KY, television work as a racing expert and involvement with sports broadcasting across a wide range of codes.

In 1999, Glenn joined the TAB after being recommended for a media role. At the time, sports betting was still in its infancy. Glenn became an important media voice for TAB Sportsbet as sports wagering expanded dramatically, providing insight and commentary across racing and a broad range of sporting events. He was also regularly called upon by media outlets for his knowledge of betting markets and the rapidly changing wagering landscape.

Glenn’s broadcasting career has continued to evolve, including work with Sky Sports Radio and Sky Thoroughbred Central, where his extensive knowledge of racing and his natural ability to communicate have made him a familiar and trusted voice to racing audiences. Throughout his career, Glenn has appeared on, or gained broadcasting experience with, every free-to-air television station in Sydney, as well as Fox Sports. He has also contributed to countless radio stations and programs throughout Australia, giving him an extraordinary breadth of experience across the Australian media landscape. He has worked alongside many of Australian racing’s leading broadcasters and personalities and remains deeply involved in the industry.

Beyond racing, Glenn has extensive experience hosting and appearing at corporate and sporting events. He is an accomplished MC and interviewer, regularly bringing his humour, knowledge and conversational style to race days, corporate functions, charity events and industry gatherings. Recent engagements have included hosting events for organisations such as the National Jockeys Trust and the Be Unstoppable Foundation, as well as racing-related events and yearling presentations.

Glenn’s appeal comes from his remarkable breadth of experience. Few people have witnessed as much of Australian racing from behind the scenes, from traditional bookmakers and the old-school racetrack culture through to the modern digital wagering and media environment.

With decades of stories, colourful characters and first-hand experiences, Glenn Munsie offers audiences an entertaining and authentic insight into Australian racing, sports betting and the evolution of the Australian sporting media landscape.
