Greg Murphy

4-times Bathurst 1000 Champion

Greg Murphy is a four-time winner of the Bathurst 1000, winning in 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2004 and held the fastest lap record at Mt Panorama for 7 years.

In February 2009, Greg joined Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond presenting Top Gear Live, when it had its first international Live show at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland and again when the show returned in 2010 with James May replacing Richard Hammond.

In 2013, Greg won the V8SuperTourer Sprint Series and Overall Championship, which was his first Championship win in 17 years – a feat he repeated in 2014  for the second year in a row. Greg also finished second in the Sandown 500 with James Courtney. His name has always been linked with Holden.

Greg retired from racing at the end of 2014 and joined the V8 Media Team for 2015 and became part of the broadcasting team on Fox Sports and Channel 10 providing expert commentary for the V8 Supercars and V8 Supercars Dunlop Series coverage. Back home in NZ, he also co-hosts SkySpeed with Stephen McIvor on SKY Sport.

Greg is no stranger to reaching 300km/h on the track, but the Kiwi V8 Supercar star preaches safe speeds and smart decisions when it comes to driving on the road.  He is the face of the Motor Trade Association’s in-school road safety programme “Murph in Schools”, that has been running for over ten years and he has been tirelessly advocating for widespread safety improvements in driver training, vehicles and road systems for some time.

He still takes punters for “Hot Laps with Murph” at various tracks around New Zealand.
