Australian Hall of Fame

Laurie Daley aka “Lozza” was inducted into the Australian Hall of Fame in 2008. He won three NRL Premierships with the Canberra Raiders, played 23 games for the NSW Blues in State of Origin and 26 Tests for Australia. Laurie was named as one of the finest players of the 20thcentury. He captained his Club, State and Country.

Laurie in total played 244 games for the Canberra Raiders. He won the 1989, 1990 and 1994 NRL Grand Finals. Such an impact Laurie had on the Raiders that he was immortalised via a bronze statue at Canberra Stadium. In 2013, the local football ground in his hometown of Junee was renamed the Laurie Daley Oval.

Post playing, Laurie has been very active both in the media and coaching. From 2008 to 2012, Laurie was the coach of the NSW Country Origin team. In 2013, Laurie was named as the NSW Blues State of Origin Coach and led the team to a Series win finally breaking the QLD dynasty and delivering the Blues their first series win since 2005. In 2014, Laurie became only the second person after Wayne Pearce to play, captain and coach a Blues side to a series win over QLD. Laurie is the current Coach of the Indigenous All Stars and has held this position since 2011.

Since 2018, Laurie has co-hosted the Big Sports Breakfast on Sky Sports Radio in Sydney. Prior to that, Laurie was highly active with the Nine Network and Fox Sports with their coverage of all things rugby league.
