Michael Hing
Comedian
Michael Hing is a comedian, actor, improviser, broadcaster, podcaster and speaker.
His comedy special Long Live the Hing is now available on Paramount Plus and Ten Play. And in 2025 Hing is embarking on his biggest tour ever with a brand-new show, Get in the Submarine.
Hing is co-creator and now host and DM of Dragon Friends, the biggest Dungeons and Dragons podcast in Australia, and also hosts Free To a Good Home, a disgusting podcast about the strangest classifieds listings online (mostly free horses and unwanted engagement rings), and The Hobba & Hing Podcast with his former triple j Drive co- host Lewis Hobba, which was launched from a hot air balloon.
During their time at triple j, their podcasts Simply the Jest and Silver Bullet amassed millions of downloads and their radio program saw Hing be hunted by professional paintballers, compete against Olympians in diving, and audition for the Magic Mike stage show. They also shot a one-hour television special for the ABC Australia’s Best Competition Competition, where the pair entered The Archibald Prize, an all ages eisteddfod and a 42km ski race. More recently, he can also be heard as an occasional program presenter on Double J and ABC local radio.
Over the past decade Hing has hosted a bunch of TV shows including The Project (TEN), Celebrity Letters & Numbers (SBS), Good Game (ABC) and the acclaimed docuseries Where Are You Really From? (SBS). He often pops up as a guest on game comedy panel shows such as Guy Montgomery’s Spelling Bee (ABC) and Spicks & Specks (ABC).
Hing has studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles and New York and has performed around the world. He was hand-picked to open for Marc Maron’s Australian tour and once delivered a TEDx Talk titled Practical Tips on Becoming a Satanic Overlord. He is a regular performer at Improv Theatre Sydney. Hing’s and his acting credits include the Stan Original Series The Other Guy, Optics and Sunny Nights.
His political comedy featured regularly on SBS’s The Feed, where his videos have amassed over 20 million views online, and won an Australian Writer’s Guild Award for Best Comedy Writing in 2020. He also briefly tried to run for the Senate in 2019 before SBS’ lawyers made it very clear that what he was doing was illegal.
He is available for corporate speaking events as an MC, keynote speaker, or for some light relief.
His parents worry about him!
