Steve Johnson

Three times Premiership Legend

Steve Johnson won three AFL Premierships for the Geelong Cats in 2007, 2009 and 2011. He won the Norm Smith Medal in 2007 for best on ground in the AFL Grand Final.

Steve was a three times All-Australian star who played 293 games of AFL scoring over 500 goals. The majority of his games were with the Geelong Cats between 2002 and 2015. In the following two season, Steve enjoyed a successful stint with the GWS Giants.

Shortly after retirement, Steve joined the Sydney Swans as an Assistant Coach. He was in charge of a forward line at the Swans that featured some of the AFLโ€™s most dangerous players including Buddy Franklin, Tom Papley and Isaac Heeney.

Steve has since returned to the GWS Giants in 2021 to bolster their coaching stocks. Head Coach Leon Cameron said, โ€œSteve is renowned as having one of the sharpest footy minds in the game and weโ€™re delighted to welcome him back to the GIANTSโ€.
