Wayne Bennett is one of the most successful and highly respected coaches in the history of rugby league. Born in Allora, Queensland, Australia, Wayne grew up playing rugby league and became a professional player in the 1970s. However, it was his coaching career that would make him a household name.
Wayne began his coaching career in the early 1980s with the Canberra Raiders, but it was his success with the Brisbane Broncos that would make him a legend. Wayne coached the Broncos for 21 seasons, from 1988 to 2008, winning six premierships along the way. He also coached the Queensland Maroons to seven State of Origin series victories.
