2 x NRL Premierships, QLD State of Origin Legend

Ben Hannant is a titan of rugby league who carved his legacy through his sheer determination, tenacity, and raw talent. Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Ben’s journey to becoming a legend of the sport was marked by perseverance and an unyielding passion for rugby league.

From an early age, Ben exhibited an innate gift for the game. He honed his skills on the fields of Central Queensland, catching the attention of talent scouts with his powerful runs, bone-crunching tackles, and unwavering commitment to excellence. His prowess earned him a spot in the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs’ junior ranks, where he flourished and quickly rose through the ranks.

In 2005, Ben made his NRL debut for the Bulldogs, marking the beginning of an illustrious professional career that spanned over a decade. Standing at an imposing 6 feet 1 inch and tipping the scales at over 110 kilograms, Ben was a force to be reckoned with on the field. His imposing physicality, coupled with his exceptional skill set, made him a formidable opponent and a vital asset to any team he played for.

Throughout his career, Ben donned the jerseys of several NRL clubs, including the Bulldogs, Brisbane Broncos, and North Queensland Cowboys. Ben is a two-time NRL Premiership winner and the only player to have won titles with two Queensland teams (Broncos in 2006 and Cowboys in 2015). In total, Ben played 245 NRL games over an incredible 17 year playing career.

In addition to his club success, Ben also enjoyed a decorated representative career, representing Queensland in State of Origin on 12 occasions between 2008 and 2012 and the Australian Kangaroos in 6 Test fixtures. His performances in the maroon jersey were nothing short of legendary, playing a crucial role in Queensland’s dominant State of Origin dynasty during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Off the field, Ben was admired for his humility, professionalism, and dedication to his community. He served as a role model for aspiring rugby league players, embodying the values of hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

After retiring from professional rugby league in 2016, Ben transitioned into a career in radio. He is the current Co-Host of the Sea FM Breakfast Radio Show on the Gold Coast called “Get Up with Heather, Dan & Ben”.
