Brad Hogg

Cricket Legend & Mental Health Advocate

Brad Hogg’s story is of dreams, setbacks, triumphs, and the unyielding spirit of a man who overcame challenges at an age when most would falter.

Brad’s journey began with humble origins. Emerging from a secluded upbringing, he found his passion in cricket. After a stellar career in One Day International (ODI) cricket, marked by three World Cup attempts and the claim of two trophies, Brad stepped away from the game in 2008.

The narrative took an unexpected twist in 2011, when Brad made a remarkable return to professional cricket. The inaugural T20 Big Bash League saw him shine as a star player for the Perth Scorchers, his state team. Audiences at the WACA were electrified as the 41-year-old, armed with his unique left-arm chinaman bowling style, weaved a spellbinding performance, bamboozling batsmen with his array of deliveries.

From that moment on, Brad became a coveted name on the global cricket circuit. His prowess extended to various international T20 leagues around the world, spanning countries such as Bangladesh, South Africa, India, the Caribbean, and Sri Lanka.

Noteworthy moments in 2012 included captivating appearances in the Australia vs India T20 series and the Australia vs Pakistan T20s, drawing packed crowds at venues like the Sydney Olympic Park Stadium, MCG, and Dubai. The climax was his selection for the Australian World Cup T20 team, despite being eliminated in the Semi-Finals by the West Indies.

Brad’s stars aligned when the Perth Scorchers clinched the rights to host the KFC T20 Big Bash League finals for three consecutive years. Triumph followed with back-to-back wins in 2013/14 and 2014/15. This resurgence earned him a recall to the Australian T20 team and a stint in South Africa before the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Brad’s vibrancy was further showcased in a viral music video parody as part of his 2014 Perth Scorchers signup. Despite the Scorchers’ near miss on a ‘Three-peat’ campaign, Hogg bid farewell to the team, allowing newer players a chance to shine. He then pursued a fresh challenge with the Melbourne Renegades in 2016/17.

Defying age, Brad’s IPL journey continued with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015 and 2016, proving that age was no obstacle to his success.

Beyond the field, Brad’s captivating story unfolds as a public speaker. He shares his highs and lows, his inspirations, the struggle of perseverance, and the importance of teamwork and preparation. His energy and honesty shine through, both as a speaker and a performer.

Brad’s media presence is pronounced, with regular appearances on radio stations across the country. He’s a familiar voice on Mix 94.5FM, 96FM, ABC, 6PR, MMM, EON Digital Radio, and SEN Radio. His commentary extends to STAR Sports, IPL, and ABC.

His philanthropic endeavours are equally remarkable, spanning causes like Police Legacy, road safety awareness, Starlight Foundation, and more. Brad is the current ambassador for Lifeline WA and the Farmer Mates Mental Health program.

Brad’s unwavering commitment to community upliftment mirrors the character of the man himself.
