Ivan Colhoun is a highly experienced chief economist that is available for keynote speeches to Boards, Senior Management offsites, Conferences and customer functions. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a large gathering, a working breakfast, lunch or dinner or a smaller more intimate group.

Most recently, Ivan was Chief Economist, Corporate & Institutional Banking for National Australia Bank, presenting to the full spectrum of the bank’s customers from SMEs to multinational corporations and from High-Net-Worth individuals to large Australian Super Funds, global central banks and international money managers and hedge funds.

Ivan has also been Chief Economist for Qantas and Chief Economist (Australia) for ANZ and Deutsche Bank. He has consulted to SEEK, IATA and Virgin Australia, giving him a broader perspective on the Australian economy and business developments than many economists that have only worked in financial markets.

Ivan holds a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from the University of Tasmania and commenced his career at the Reserve Bank of Australia.

He has wide experience, including on economic and financial market trends, as well as the consumer and retail, housing and property, aviation and tourism and is happy to research a particular topic and tailor the presentation to suit the client’s needs.

A typical presentation will involve a discussion of the big forces expected to drive broader economic and business developments in the next twelve to eighteen months, including a focus on consumer spending, inflation and interest rates, coupled with a deep dive on an area of specific interest to the customer. The presentation will also include Ivan’s five Megatrends for the next 5-20 years, along with a discussion and review of his two favourite indicators of the Australian economy: SEEK Job Ads and the NAB Business Survey measure of Business Conditions.

Ivan prefers to appear in person, especially for Board and Senior Management presentations but is also available to present via Zoom or Teams or to a webinar.

Outside of work, Ivan has a Commercial Pilots’ Licence, plays golf, O55s soccer and his latest adventure is growing pinot noir in Tasmania. He’s also a passionate Arsenal and Western Bulldogs fan.
