John O’Brien is the CEO and Founder of Poolwerx Corporation which is one of the world’s leading swimming pool, hot tub and spa service companies.

John’s passion and experience in franchising is hard to rival. He is an inductee into the Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) Hall of Fame, past chair of the World, Asia Pacific, Australia and Queensland Franchise Councils and founding member of the Australian Federal Government (ACCC) franchise advisory group.

Over 25 years, John has developed his brand Poolwerx into an award-winning system. Most notably being recognised by the FCA as Best Franchise System twice (2004 & 2016) and amazingly, three times winner of Best Multi-Unit Franchisee (2012, 13 & 15).

John is also a keen contributor to the swimming pool sector where he co-founded and chaired the Swimming Pool Retail Association of Australia (SPRAA). He also served on the Board of the industry’s peak governing board, the Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia.

Poolwerx operates across Australia, New Zealand and the USA and is the largest global pool service business. The brand now has over 500 service vehicles and over 150 stores.

John is a highly regarded speaker and panellist at international franchising events worldwide where he offers insight and advice to start-up franchising systems and developing franchise groups.
