Paralympian, Diversity & Disability Specialist, Clinical Social Worker

Karni Liddell is a mother, Paralympian, speaker, Channel 7 presenter, diversity trainer and clinical social worker who has been invited to share her insights and experiences with thousands of audiences around the world.

Karni is the NDIS Advisor to the Dept of Communities and Disabilities, is a member of the Premier’s Domestic and Family Violence Implementation Council and a member of the Minister for Women and Child Safety’s, Sexual Violence Roundtable.

Karni’s presentations empower people to believe that they have the power to change their lives and their world, as her mantra is “the smallest of acts can create the largest of impacts.” Karni’s attitude is impactful, infectious and joyful.

Karni is one of the few speakers in Australia to receive many standing ovations throughout her 20 year speaking career. Karni is able to provide workshops and presentations focusing on how to develop and maintain resilience and empathy, how to employ people with a disability (or attract customers with a disability), how to cope with or support someone who has experienced trauma (esp. Domestic and Family Violence), media and public speaking training and how to get into the business of the NDIS (Karni has been involved with the NDIA since the Rallies and officially opened the NDIA head office).

Karni has risen over $1million dollars for the various charities she supports. Karni presented a TED speech which has been viewed by thousands of people around the world and was the only TED speaker on the day to receive a standing ovation.

Karni is the Ambassador for Montrose Access, Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association. Karni was the Patron of the International Day of People with a Disability.

Karni has been awarded the Pride of Australia medal; she won the QLD Teacher and Trainer of the year and was awarded the Alumni of the year by the QUT Faculty of Health. Karni has a Masters in Clinical Social Work and a double degree in Communications.
