Australian Football Hall of Fame

Tony Shaw is a Collingwood legend who won the 1990 AFL Premiership as Captain. He also won the 1990 Norm Smith Medal for best on ground in the Grand Final. In 2010, Tony was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

Tony played 313 games for the Pies scoring 157 goals. He was the Captain between 1987 to 1993. Until recently Tony had played more games than any other Collingwood player in history. He won two Copeland Trophy’s (Pies best & fairest), twice AFL Team of the Year (including Captain in 1990), named in the Collingwood Team of the Century and inducted into the Collingwood Hall of Fame.

Tony retired at the end of the 1994 season and became assistant coach to Leigh Matthews at the Magpies in 1995. Shaw assumed the role of senior coach in 1996. After four seasons at the helm, Shaw stepped down as coach and has since forged a successful career in the media.

Tony is part of the AFL coverage of both 3AW and the Fox Footy Channel. Starting with 3AW in 1999, Tony’s grasp of all things sport extends to regular time behind the mic on flagship programs, Sports Today and Sports Saturday. Tony has also been an integral member of Fox Footy Channel through his work alongside fellow legends Doug Hawkins, Bob Davis and Kevin Bartlett on Grumpy Old Men and on Fox’s live AFL match coverage.
